A festive (and easy!) harvest trifle to serve at your next fall gathering, the candy corn autumn dessert is easy to make and fun to eat. This harvest themed dessert would make a great autumn treat for kid, too, and is great for any holiday festivities!
We just can’t wait for fall pumpkins (and I love my pumpkin spice and caramel lattes) around here, and all things fall make us smile.
I love to make holidays and events special, but time is short so the easier the better. This year I’m making fall more stress-free by planning ahead for simple treats to serve the kids.
Candy Corn Harvest Trifle Ingredients:
- Boxed chocolate cake mix(and ingredients needed for cake, too!)
- Whipped Cream or cool whip
- Red and yellow food coloring
- Cherry pie filling
- Pumpkin pie spice
- Candy corn
Directions:
- Prepare cake according to directions on box, adding pumpkin spice to cake batter before baking.
- Add red and yellow food coloring to cool whip, until desired orange hue is achieved. (I did 5 yellow, 3 red.) Gently fold in colors.
- Once cake has cooled, gently cut cake into one inch pieces.
- To a large glass serving bowl (or smaller containers), you’re going to layer the bottom with candy corn (as desired –I did outer edges), cake, cool whip, cherries. Continue process until ingredients are finished and you’ve reached the top.
If you don’t have already have a trifle dish, they are a great bowl to serve layered salads and desserts in or even decorate for centerpieces. Alternately, you could also serve these in little glass jars, like the ones I use for my chia puddings.
I can’t wait to surprise my kids with this candy corn trifle this weekend along with our favorite fall dinner recipe of easy quinoa lentil chili!
