Books about School for Younger Kids
Do you have a little one who’s just starting school? Maybe you just need to build a little excitement for your child that had such a great summer they’re a little nervous about the new school year. A bedtime cuddle and a book about their favorite characters heading off to school is a great way to prepare kids for the change in schedule.
What is your Child’s Favorite Story?
My daughter’s favorite book before beginning school was Maisy Goes to Preschool, and it’s one that has been handed down through her brother’s as they prepared for their first day in the classroom. Soon enough I’ll be reading the same story to our youngest daughter. The books below make wonderful stories for kids to read before the school year starts and after longer school breaks. Some are specific to a grade such as Kindergarten, while others are simply silly or encouraging stories for kids of any age.
Reading to your kids prepares them for a lifetime love of reading. We try to balance the crazy school nights with some quiet time on the couch reading each evening before bed. There are nights my tweens sit and read to their siblings, while other nights my husband or I read a quick story to them before they go to sleep. Do you have a storytime routine?
