‘Twas the Night Before Christmas Book Activity

Do your kids love search and find books and games of I spy? What about fabulous Christmas classics?

This cute Christmas activity is based on one of my favorite holiday stories, Twas the Night Before Christmas. There are many version of the story, all closely related so any copy your have should work for this activity. My preschooler and I sat down with a board book for our storytime.

Do you make your own playdough? We’ve made both cook and no-cook playdough, but for this activity I needed something even easier. It’s such a busy time of year and I was focused on the activity not the prep work.

If you love to make your own playdough I do have a great recipe here. You can also do this activity with store bought playdough.

Supplies

Roll the playdough into a ball and squish the ball flat.

Lightly press the buttons into the playdough on each side.

Read through the story together and as each object with a coordinated button is mentioned in the story have your child find it in the playdough. This can be fun for older children too if you hide the buttons in the playdough.

You can do this activity with other Christmas stories such as Frosty the Snowman using snowman miniatures. Last year we made an I-spy ornament to hang on our tree!
